The opportunity

We’re looking for a curious and motivated Junior Software Developer who is ready to build their skills by solving real product problems. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll help design, build and improve applications across our .NET, SQL and React stack, while also gaining experience with Python and Azure-hosted components.

This role will suit someone who enjoys learning, asks thoughtful questions and is comfortable in a startup-style environment where priorities can evolve. You’ll receive guidance and support, while being encouraged to contribute ideas, take increasing responsibility and become a well-rounded developer as SmartVision grows.

What you’ll do

• Help design and develop robust, maintainable applications using .NET, SQL and React.
• Learn how to turn product and customer needs into well-considered technical solutions.
• Contribute to Azure-hosted components using Python, object storage and event queues.
• Work with product, test and development colleagues to deliver valuable features.
• Maintain and improve existing applications through updates, refactoring and enhancements.
• Learn to estimate work, communicate progress and raise questions or risks early.
• Test your work thoroughly and build your understanding of reliability, security and performance.
• Investigate and resolve issues with support from the wider team.
• Contribute ideas in team and project discussions and learn from code reviews and feedback.
• Develop your technical knowledge and share what you learn with colleagues.

What we’re looking for

• A foundation in C#/.NET and SQL, gained through study, a bootcamp, personal projects, a placement, an internship or your first development role.
• Some experience with React, or a comparable modern framework such as Angular or Vue.
• Awareness of Microsoft Azure, Python, object storage and event queues, together with an interest in developing your practical experience with these technologies.
• A basic understanding of Git and version-control workflows.
• An understanding of testing, debugging and the importance of clear, maintainable code.
• Clear communication, attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions and act on feedback.
• Comfort working collaboratively in a small team and adapting as priorities change.
• Curiosity about the product, its users and the real-world problems the technology is solving.

Useful, but not essential

• Commercial experience gained through an internship, placement or first software-development role.
• Experience with geospatial applications, mapping or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience building event-driven, data-rich, image-based or AI-enabled applications.
• Experience with Visual Studio or the wider Microsoft development ecosystem.

Naurt is a global location data company. We map high-accuracy building entrances and parking locations so delivery, logistics and emergency-service teams can reach the right place faster. Our data is available through APIs and flat files and covers hundreds of millions of address points.

We are a small, ambitious team. You will work closely with experienced colleagues, see how decisions are made and contribute to software used in the real world.

The opportunity

We are looking for a recent graduate, or someone completing their final year, with strong mathematical reasoning and a genuine interest in coding. We are particularly keen to hear from people studying physics or astrophysics.

You do not need commercial full-stack experience. We will help you build it. What matters is that you enjoy solving difficult problems, have already experimented with code and want to become a strong software engineer.

What you’ll do

• Learn to build and maintain features across our front end, back end, APIs and data systems.
• Turn product ideas and customer needs into clear, reliable software.
• Write tests, investigate bugs and help improve product quality.
• Work with large location datasets and apply structured, numerical thinking to practical problems.
• Take part in code reviews, technical discussions and planning.
• Build your skills through mentoring, pairing and hands-on ownership of real work.

What we’re looking for

• A degree, or expected degree, in physics, astrophysics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or another highly quantitative subject.
• Strong numerical reasoning and confidence working with unfamiliar technical problems.
• A real interest in software development, shown through coursework, research, personal projects or self-directed learning.
• Some coding experience in any language. Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, Rust, C or C++ are all useful examples, but none is required.
• Curiosity, initiative and the confidence to ask questions when something is unclear.
• Clear communication and an interest in working in a small, entrepreneurial team.

Useful, but not essential

• Experience with Git, web applications, APIs, databases or automated testing.
• Familiarity with vectors, matrices, probability, statistics or data analysis.
• A coding project you can talk us through, even if it is unfinished.
